I am available most weekends to offer private in-field workshops, and love sharing what I know on scouting locations, finding and honing compositions, taking advantage of different types of light and conditions, overcoming the technical limitations of your equipment, etc.

I have extensive location knowledge across the mountains, forests, and coasts of the Pacific Northwest, so I'm able to take you to the best spots for making compelling images of these uniquely diverse landscapes. We can cover topics such as location scouting, weather forecasting, composition, exposure bracketing, panorama, focus stacking, and other advanced techniques. I will also teach you processing in between shoots and scouting. We can custom-tailor your tour to locations and subjects you're interested in, taking into account the conditions and time of year.  Whether you're a beginner that would like to learn the entire photographic process step-by-step, or an advanced photographer looking for more of a location guide than a teacher, I can meet your needs.

A travel fee will apply to cover fuel costs. Participants are responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and meals.  Contact me to schedule a tour or if you have any questions. Thanks!

Private Post-Processing Instruction (Skype)

Planning and taking the shot is only half the story.  In order to communicate your vision – the reason why you took the shot – it is important to have a thorough understanding of the tools available in the digital Darkroom.

During a session, I will first teach you my artistic approach.  I'll share my screen so that you can see what I'm doing every step of the way, as I take you through my unique workflow, start to finish.  I'll explain what I'm doing and why, and you'll be free to stop me to ask questions.

I recommend starting with a 2-hour session (long enough to cover my entire workflow on one to two images, depending on your current proficiency level).  I will make a video recording of the session, and provide you with that and a Photoshop PSD afterward for you to follow along and practice with.  I'd be happy to give detailed critique of your images as well.

Contact me to schedule a session. I'm typically available weekday evenings, Pacific Time. Thanks!
