Mt. Jefferson Tarns

from $700.00

I recently joined John Williams and Steve Kennedy, fellow NPN photogs, in the heart of the Mount Jefferson wilderness, a landscape carved by time and transformed by fire. Years had passed since flames reshaped this area, which caused the park service to relocate the trail that passes near this area. I was thrilled to find that this view was still accessible, but it meant walking straight up (and down) the steep streambed.

I had seen Sean Bagshaw's shot from this spot years ago and wondered if it would be possible to include the tarn that was covered in ice when he photographed it.

This is a 'squished' pano, which, IMHO, most accurately represents the view from this magical spot. I got to enjoy the sunset all to my lonesome before hiking back down to base camp.
