Cancellation Policy and Workshop Terms

Payment and deposit

  • A 30% deposit is required to reserve your spot.

  • This deposit is non-refundable and will be no less than $500.

  • The remaining balance is due 60 days before the workshop starts.

  • If the balance is not paid on time, your spot may be released.

Cancellation by participant

  • Cancellations must be made by email.

  • If you cancel more than 90 days before the workshop start date, your deposit will be refunded minus a 10% administrative fee based on the total workshop price.

  • If you cancel within 90 days of the workshop start date, your deposit is non-refundable. At my discretion, it may be applied as a credit toward one future workshop within 12 months, subject to availability.

  • If I am able to fill your spot, I may offer a refund or partial credit beyond the deposit, but I am not required to do so.

  • No refunds or credits are given for no-shows, late arrivals, missed sessions, voluntary early departures, travel delays, illness, or personal scheduling conflicts.

Cancellation by James Lorentson Photography

  • Workshops require a minimum of 5 participants to run.

  • If that minimum has not been met by 60 days before the workshop, I may cancel the workshop and refund all payments made to James Lorentson Photography in full.

  • I reserve the right to cancel any workshop at any time due to medical emergencies, unsafe weather conditions, or other unforeseen events. In these instances, clients are eligible for a credit equal to the remaining amount of the trip, which must be redeemed within 12 months.

  • I am not responsible for airfare, lodging, rental cars, travel insurance, or other outside costs.

Travel insurance

  • We recommend you arrange travel insurance at the time of making your workshop booking to cover yourself.

  • Travel insurance and refundable lodging are strongly recommended.

Format and weather

  • Workshops are photography instruction experiences, not packaged vacations.

  • Nature photography depends on weather, light, access, and safety.

  • The itinerary may change at any time, and schedules are flexible based on weather, access, safety, and group needs.

  • No specific conditions, subjects, or images are guaranteed.

Inclusions and logistics

  • Tuition includes only the items listed on the specific workshop page.

  • Unless stated otherwise, lodging, transportation, meals, park fees, and personal expenses are not included.

  • Participants are responsible for their own transportation and lodging.

  • Carpooling is optional and arranged between participants.

Risk, safety, and conduct

  • Outdoor photography involves risks, including slippery ground, water, cliffs, weather, wildlife, road hazards, and remote conditions.

  • You are responsible for your own fitness, judgment, gear, transportation, and personal safety.

  • Participants must follow safety instructions, respect land rules, and treat others with respect.

  • Unsafe or disruptive behavior may result in removal without refund.

  • By voluntarily accepting these risks, you release and hold harmless James Lorentson Photography and anyone assisting with the workshop from claims arising from your participation to the fullest extent allowed by law.
