Columnar

from $700.00

One of the most fascinating aspects of exploring new waterfalls is discovering the intricate geological formations surrounding them. A few weeks ago, I visited this hidden gem, where the beauty of the basalt columns stole the show.

Arriving late on a weekday granted me the solitude to appreciate the awe-inspiring scene fully. The short but steep hike was well worth it as I stood before this colossal amphitheater of towering basalt columns.

Instead of focusing solely on the waterfall, I focused on the stunning rock formations. These hexagonal columns, formed over millennia by cooling and contracting volcanic lava, create an incredible natural mosaic.

I employed focus stacking to capture every detail sharply, ensuring that each nook and cranny of these majestic columns was perfectly in focus. The vibrant patches of greenery add a touch of life to the otherwise rugged landscape, showcasing nature's resilience and beauty.

Exploring beyond the obvious compositions often reveals hidden treasures, and this mesmerizing pattern of basalt columns is a testament to that.
