"There is nothing worse than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept"—Ansel Adams
Don't get lost in the details. The shapes, forms, tones, colors, and composition are by far more important for the overall story and concept.
I loved the way that the Aspen's white bark danced against the soft pastel autumn colors as I walked around the grove. Shooting it sharp with all the details was pleasing, but it didn't quite capture the feeling I was going for.
To make this photo, I played with an in-field technique called Intentional Camera Movement, whereby the camera pans vertically during the (long) exposure.
Sometimes the details are better left to the imagination. Hope you like it.
