Alpine Silence

In a snowy and cold alpine forest deep in the Cascade Mountains, where the hillsides were covered by thick blankets of snow, we heard faint bird-song amidst the winter silence. As we reached the top of the ridge and peered down over the frozen lake, we came upon the little Whiskeyjacks responsible for the noise.

These highly curious birds will fly right onto your hand, if you stand still enough.
